Job Title: Senior Data Analyst

Location: Westmont, IL

Responsibilities:

Data Analytics/Reporting/Client Support (70%)

  • Create and manage relational databases using Structured Query Language (SQL) across multiple database platforms, using MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Oracle 1 1 g, and Microsoft Access;
  • Ensure data quality and consistency, in addition to conducting data audits through the implementation of industry-wide data quality standards using ETL (extract, transform and load) process between similar and dissimilar systems
  • Extract data from large sets of unstructured flat files, data transformation using business rules/logic, and data loading into database servers using tools such as SPSS, Toad for MySQL, and SQL Server Management Studio;
  • Analyze healthcare claims and billing charges based on population and geography by means of utilizing statistics and publicly available data;
  • Analyze financial data to track and capture key performance indicators and metrics, in additions to analyzing results, identifying trends, and recommending actions to be taken from medical auditors by understanding business data requirements;
  • Design and develop dashboards and database reports for business stakeholders to understand and track key performance indicators (KPI);
  • Perform statistical analysis on large medical billing and insurance denial data sets to discover transaction patterns;
  • Communicate statistical and data analysis findings in the form of technically written memos and audit reports with supporting evidence and appendices;
  • Genera custom ad-hoc reports based in business needs, analysis, and findings;
  • Automate standard weekly/quarterly/monthly reports by means of understanding complete reporting requirements, including the various processes and data involved.

Software Development Analysis (30%)   

  • Understand prevailing business processes, generate work flow diagrams;
  • Analyze and identify manual, paper-based processes to be automated using web-based applications;
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and software developers to understand necessary business processes in order to translate findings into technical requirements;
  • Create process flow diagrams based in workflows;
  • Gather software requirements, documenting functional/technical specifications, and transform them into use cases and flow diagrams;
  • Understand the software development life cycle (SDLC) and implementing waterfall or agile methodologies for software development based on business deliverables;
  • Manage and update databases based on changes in worker’s compensation laws and other legal changes;
  • Generate sample data for test cases and software deliverables involving functional testing, user acceptance testing, and automated regression testing scenarios;
  • Manage the scope, timeline, and deliverables for critical projects and audits;
  • Define tasks, hours, resources, as well as prioritizing, managing, and implementing change requests;
  • Manage, maintain and update user guides for applications and policy & procedures for audits.

Requirements:

 This position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or an IT-related field, or foreign equivalent and 2 years of experience in data analytics/business intelligence role. In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or an IT-related field, or foreign equivalent and 5 years of experience in data analytics/business intelligence role.

In addition, this position requires:  

  • 2 years of experience in SQL;
  • 1 year of experience with database systems (MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server);
  • 1 year of experience in reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, SAP Business Objects, or Power BI;
  • 1 year of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data warehousing and Extract Transformation and Load (ETL) development;
  • Experience in software engineering, software development and testing life cycle;
  • Experience utilizing SQL to manipulate large amounts of data for analytical projects and translate the data into sound insights;
  • Experience working directly with customers to document business requirements, functional requirements and testing strategy; and
  • Experience with the planning, implementation and support of the extract, transform and load (ETL) process for new data sets.
